I
tend to do things backwards. Let me explain. I was married when I was 19 (I
usually say 20 because I turned 20 the month after I was married. More 20 then
19 right?) Then I jumped right into the work force. I had random jobs, finished
my associate degree, went to cosmetology school, and worked at several different
salons. Through the years I realized I should have dated more and experienced
more before getting married.
I was divorced before I turned 29 and decided to work on myself.
I went back to school and started signing
up for running races.
As
part of my backwards thinking, I sign up for races with zero training or idea
of what I am doing, or even what
I’m getting myself into. True to this formula I signed up for my first
triathlon. On May 4, 2013 I am going to participate in a Half Ironman
triathlon. Let me break that down for you, I will be swimming 1.4 miles, biking
56 miles and then running 13.1 miles. One right after the other! I
know what most of you are thinking- “Why would anyone want to do that to
themselves?!”. Well…I’m still trying to figure that out.
This
race and myself:
1. This will be my first triathlon ever. That’s right. The half Ironman is my
first triathlon.
2. Right now I have not stepped a foot in a pool for about a year.
3. I am not sure the distance I can ride a bike but I have ridden a bike for
quite some distance.…and my legs burnt like hell. (I am terrified of hopping off
the bike and starting a half marathon.)
4.
The one thing I have going for me is I have run a half marathon, and I enjoyed
it.
This blog is to document my backwards journey to success in my triathlon endeavors,
and life goals.
